Several groups will come together Tuesday morning to hold the third annual Prom Crash Drill at Newark High School.

The drill was started to remind prom-goers of the dangers of distracted and drunk driving. During the drill, public safety agencies will respond to, extricate, triage, treat and transport simulated victims of a three-car crash.

The drill will be held at 9 a.m.
 

Kaida is a 5-year-old female Lhaso Apso/Miniature Poodle mix who was brought to Lollypop Farm in an extremely matted state. She was so matted her left hind leg was being strangled and caused the circulation to her paw to stop which resulted in her needing her leg amputated. This hasn't slowed her down one bit--she is a lively girl who gets along well on her new tri-pod body. Lollypop Farm recommends that Kaida go to a home with kids age 14 or older and she must meet any dogs already living in the home. While in foster care she lived with 3 dogs and did well with them. Kiada has some issues guarding her food bowl so our Behavior department has been working with her. She will need an owner who is committed to continuing working with her through positive reinforcement. Training classes to polish her manners and give her some mental stimulation will also be necessary for Kaida and her new owner.

A Newark teen has been arrested and charged with stealing his grandmother's car and causing a crash in Palmyra.

Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies say Jeffrey Tyler, 16, of Newark, took his grandmother's car without permission and caused a two car crash at the intersection of Hogback Road and Port Gibson Road in Palmyra. The crash happened around 3:30p.m. on April 20.

Tyler was issued citations from the crash including failure to yield the right of way, failure to stop at a stop sign, no insurance and unlicensed operator.

On May 3, Tyler was subsequently arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  He was issued an appearance ticket.
