Student helps raise awareness, funds for Wounded Warrior Program

Joey Gonzalez, a student at Marion High School, has been raising money throughout this school year for a project that culminated on April 12 with a special event.

Gonzalez a student from Marion High School, was able to get his school to participate in his effort to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. He is passionate about raising awareness and helping the country’s wounded veterans. His cousin Nicholas Farnsworth was in the 82nd Airborne Division 1/504th PIR (parachute infantry regiment) and has done two tours in Iraq. Even though Joe has no future plans to join the service himself, he still supports the troops.

"This was a good way to support the people that fight for us,” Gonzalez said. “Even if you don't support the war, you can still support the people that protect us. People don't realize the hardships they have to go through so events like this can make people realize."

Meet Kaida!

Meet Kaida!

Kaida is a 5-year-old female Lhaso Apso/Miniature Poodle mix who was brought to Lollypop Farm in an extremely matted state. She was so matted her left hind leg was being strangled and caused the circulation to her paw to stop which resulted in her needing her leg amputated. This hasn't slowed her down one bit--she is a lively girl who gets along well on her new tri-pod body. Lollypop Farm recommends that Kaida go to a home with kids age 14 or older and she must meet any dogs already living in the home. While in foster care she lived with 3 dogs and did well with them. Kiada has some issues guarding her food bowl so our Behavior department has been working with her. She will need an owner who is committed to continuing working with her through positive reinforcement. Training classes to polish her manners and give her some mental stimulation will also be necessary for Kaida and her new owner.
