Eagle service project fills the shelves of the Ontario Food Pantry
The shelves of the Ontario Food Pantry were stocked with more than 400 new items last week, thanks to an Eagle service project.
Ian Stead, a Scout with Ontario Boy Scout Troop 127 and senior at Wayne Central School District, took on the project to meet his Eagle service project.
Stead coordinated efforts with the National Honor Society and Boy Scout Troop 127 to make people aware of the need for donations. He created drop sites at the high school and encouraged students to donate items.
The Food Pantry assists about 60 Ontario families each month and is available to any Ontario resident in need and works on a referral system. To apply for a referral or assistance, contact any one of the town's seven churches or Wayne Social Services.
