Thirteen people were issued tickets during the opening weekend of gun season for deer hunting in Wyoming County.
Evan Countryman, 24 of Castile, Allen Hawks, 54 of Wyoming, Roger Fronczak, 46 of Silver Springs, and Richard Simpson, 47 of Perry, were issued a citation for failure to tag a deer.
Meggan Petti, 25 of Penfield, was cited for failing to carry proper tags. Scott Petti Jr., 29 of Penfield, was issued citations for illegal killing of an antlered deer and failure to tag a deer.
Daryl Mays, 36 of Batavia, was ticketed for the illegal taking of an antler-less deer and failure to tag a deer.
Rocky Gringer, also of Batavia, was cited for having a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
Donald Washburn Jr., 35 of Lakeville, was issued citations for attempt to take a deer with the aid of a motor vehicle, accepting the back tag on another person, illegal attempt to kill an antlered deer and having a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
Darryl Allen of Perry was cited for illegal lending of an antlered deer carcass tag and hunting without a valid license. Christopher Schaeffer, 42 of Ontario, was also cited for hunting without a valid license.
Richard Covell, 43 of Perry, was issued a citation for failure to properly complete a deer carcass tag.
Sixty-year-old James Backus of Piffard was issued citations for hunting deer with a semi-automatic rifle capable of more than six rounds and illegal taking of an antler-less deer.
Troopers and DEC officials say they will continue to aggressively enforce the rules and regulations governing safe hunting in New York for the remainder of the season.
