Historic Palmyra hosts annual fundraising dinner

The Historic Palmyra annual fundraising steak roast dinner will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Alling Coverlet Museum, 122 William St., Palmyra.  The cost is $25 per person.  

The event will include a silent auction, music from Forever Fiddling of Rochester, and door prizes throughout the evening. On the menu are the 12 oz. New York strip steak, potato, vegetable, salad, bread, and homemade dessert.

Historic Palmyra is a 501 c 3 non-profit, self supporting, educational institution that owns and operates four amazing museums steps from the Erie Canal in the Village of Palmyra. 

This event supports the four museums and programs throughout the year. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for the same price.

The Hoffman Clock Museum in Newark celebrates grand reopening

The Hoffman Clock Museum in Newark is ticking again following a major construction project. The public is invited to attend the grand reopening sponsored by the Hoffman on Saturday April 9 from 4:00 to 6:00pm.

The museum is located in the Newark Public Library on High Street in the village. The museum follows the library's hours and is free of charge.

The Hoffman Foundation Clock Collection was established under the wills of Augustus L. Hoffman (1856-1945) and his wife, Jennie D. Hoffman, to help preserve the history of Wayne County.  Mr.

Winners of the Red Cross's Wayne County Pizza Contest fundraiser

The American Red Cross announced the winners of its first annual Wayne County Pizza Contest fundraiser. The fundraiser was held Saturday in Newark.

The winner of the "Best Pizza in Wayne County" is BB's Pizza from Newark. The runners-up were Stony's Pizzeria from Lyons and Nima's Pizzeria from Palmyra.

The winner in the category of the "Popular Vote" is Trucks Over from Sodus Point.

Wayne County Action Program to hold Celebration of Volunteerism

The Wayne County Action Program is celebration National Volunteer Week which April 11-16. The Wayne County Action Program along with AmeriCorps and Senior Services is holding a Celebration of Volunteerism at Palmyra Town Hall on Canandaigua Road on April 11 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The program would like volunteers and supporters to come learn about one another and stop in and join us for a cup of coffee.

Gatesinger Company performs 'Bye Bye Birdie'

Conrad Birdie returns to Gates Hall at 4107 Lake Road in Pultneyville for the Gatesinger Company, Ltd’s spring production of "Bye Bye Birdie" April 8 and 9 at 8 p.m., and April 10 at 3 p.m.

This 1960 Broadway hit was scripted by Michael Steward, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams. Popular featured songs include “Put on a Happy Face”, “Kids” and “A Lot of Livin To Do”. The original cast starred Dick Van Dyke, Chita Rivera, and Paul Lynde.

Directed by Amanda Lobaugh and Patti Montrois, the show tells the story of Albert Peterson (Albert Young), a New York City talent agent who is in a crisis because his number one client — rock and roll legend Conrad Birdie (Bob Gorski) — has just been drafted into the army.

Who has the best pizza in Wayne County? The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross wants to know. They are hold the 1st annual Wayne County Pizza Contest.

The event will take place on Saturday March 26 at 3pm at the Elks Lodge on South Main Street in Newark.
