The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union (IAM Local 588), representing manufacturing and maintenance employees at Garlock Sealing Technologies facility in Palmyra ratified a new five-year contract on Feb. 12.
“The union and company worked collaboratively throughout the negotiation process to address both parties’ interests and to reach a positive outcome,” said Mike Wemesfelder, Garlock’s chief negotiator.
Garlock’s offer included wage increases in each of the next five years, as well as a reduction in medical insurance contributions. The company also will provide enhancements to pension and retirement savings programs.
“The company believes this agreement provides a competitive package for our employees,” said Wemesfelder. “It enhances our culture around safety and will allow us to retain, develop and attract talent to fulfill our strategic objectives.”
Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC, an EnPro Industries company, is a leader in high-performance, fluid-sealing products for the global process industries. These include compression packing, gasketing, hydraulic components, dynamic seals and metal gaskets, as well as expansion joints for industrial piping systems.
