News10NBC's Janet Lomax to talk with Michelle Obama in an exclusive one-on-one interview

A very exciting announcement -- News10NBC's Janet Lomax will have an exclusive one-on-one interview with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Janet is traveling to Washington with Girl Scout Troop 60325 from Fairport.

The scouts have been learning about healthy eating and started growing tomato plants as part of their work toward their bronze award. They wrote a letter to the First Lady to let her know about the project and she invited them to the White House to help with spring planting for the White House Kitchen Garden.

The girls leave Sunday and meet with Mrs. Obama on Monday.

Janet will spend the day with the girls and the First Lady. Then she'll sit down one-on-one with Michelle Obama.

Marie Cramer elected mayor of Macedon

Marie Cramer was elected mayor of the village of Macedon Tuesday, with 185 votes according to unofficial results from the Wayne County Board of Elections. Village Trustee David Kelly received 68 votes in the contested race.

Cramer takes office April 2, when the village will have a new mayor for the first time in 16 years. Mayor James Hoteling is stepping down after his long tenure as mayor and as a trustee before that.

Kelly is in the middle of his term as a trustee and will retain his seat on the Village Board.

Reached Tuesday evening after the polls closed at 9 p.m., Cramer said she is grateful for all the support and the people who came out to vote. “Together we can make a difference,” she said.

New Town of Rose Supervisor Kenan Baldridge ready to hit the ground running

Brooks vs. Slaughter in 2012?

There is speculation County Executive Maggie Brooks could consider running for the 29th Congressional seat. It's the seat held by Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. Today, News 10NBC asked Slaughter what she thinks of the possibility.

On Wednesday, News 10NBC’s Rich Funke asked Brooks “Do you aspire to a higher office?” Her answer? “Well everybody always asks that.”

The question came up during an interview with Brooks Wednesday night on News 10NBC at 5:30 one day after she won the County Executive's seat for an unprecedented third term.

Brooks said, ‘If it presents itself, I would be not truthful if I said I wouldn't consider it.

Newark looks at nuisances, property maintenance laws

The village of Newark is asking for public input on proposed changes that would tighten their property maintenance laws and address two properties deem nuisances.

Palmyra library election Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m.

Five people are vying for one of three open spots on the Palmyra Community Library’s Board of Trustees.

The election will be held from noon to 9 p.m.,  Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the library at 127 Cuyler St.  

Those elected would serve a four-year term beginning Nov. 1.

The five candidates seeking seats on the board are incumbents Diane Alsup, Carolyn Bradstreet and Jennifer Voss, and newcomers Andrew Lambrix and Deborah Murray.

There will be no vote on the library’s proposed 2012 budget, because the budget amount remains the same as that of 2011.  

Voters must be registered and reside in the Palmyra Community Library District which encompasses the town of Palmyra, excluding the portion that lies within the Newark School District. For more information, call 597-5276.
