Ruben A. Cirillo High School inducts 31 students into National Honor Society

Gananda’s Ruben A. Cirillo High School held its annual National Honor Society induction ceremony and 31 new inductees joined 16 current members who were previously inducted.

Inductees:
Michelle Ballaron, Bonnie Binggeli, Rachel Bush, Allison Camp, David Carder, Jessie Carder, Alexandra Cunningham, Emily Dean, Emily Donnan, Katie Drake, Morgan Hart, Taylere Herrmann, Kristina Keenan, Abigail Kois, Bethany Lane, Sarah Looney, Lindsey Mason, Gillian Merklinger, Mitchell Miller, Lucy Montanaro, Eric Mucci, Colin Nims, Zoe Paris, Courtney Porcelli, Heather Prinsen, Kole Seeber, Nick Skrotzki, Emily Stange, Jennifer Stearns, Jessica Stookey, and Mallory Velte.

Students selected to the society are among the highest scholastic achievers in their school. In order to apply for NHS, students must achieve a high school GPA of 90 or higher.

Gananda Middle School has announced its students of the month of January 2013. Students are selected based on their demonstration of the following characteristics: exceptional effort, leadership, consistent homework completion, positive behavior, positive attitude, good attendance and effort to meet commencement outcomes.

Benefit to be held for East Palmyra Christian School

Enjoy an evening of music to benefit East Palmyra Christian School.

See Light Blue Gospel Blues Band and In Response perform on Saturday, February 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Living Word Church on Ridge Road in Ontario.

There will be a free will offering to benefit East Palmyra Christian School.

Gananda Middle School announces Students of the Month

Gananda Middle School December 2012 Students of the Month are sixth graders Zachary Ciprich and Cecilia Salupo, seventh graders Evan Smith and Alizabeth York, and eighth graders Jadyn Seelig and Desirae Priest.

School officials say the students are are selected based on their demonstarion of the following characteristics: exceptional effort, leadership, consistent homework completion, positive behavior, positive attitude, good attendance and effort to meet commencement outcomes.

Honeoye Falls-Lima School District appoints new superintendent

The Honeoye Falls-Lima School District has a new superintendent.

The Board of Education appointed Eugene Mancuso as the District’s superintendent at Tuesday night’s board meeting.

Macuso previously served as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at the Penfield Central School District. He has also been employed as principal at Cobbles Elementary in Penfield and Freewill Elementary in the Wayne Central District.

Mancuso will begin his new role on March 1, 2013.

Hoops for the Hospital

Hoops for the Hospital

On January 5, the Gananda’s girl’s varsity basketball team will host the 2013 Hoops for the Hospital showdown against North Rose Wolcott.

The showdown will take place at Gananda High School at 5:30 p.m. (JV) and 7 p.m. (V). There will be t-shirt sales, silent auction, 50/50 raffle and special events.

The proceeds raised from this event will go to Golisano Children’s Hospital.
 

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES names new district superintendent

The Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Cooperative Education has a new district superintendent.

Scott Bischoping will begin his role as Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES District Superintendent on or before March 1.

Since 2006, Bischoping has served as superintendent of the Livonia Central School District. He has been with the Livonia Central School District for almost 25 years and has served in many different positions including Business Education teacher, high school principal and director of instruction.
