Police: Marion woman stole $1,881 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor

A 65-year-old Marion woman has been arrested for grand larceny.

Ontario County Sheriff's Deputies say Svetlana Smith stole $1,881.99 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor at Eastview Mall.

Smith was processed and issued an appearance ticket.

Wegmans recalls some soups

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A soup manufacturer for Wegmans is recalling about 4,000 pounds of products after consumers found bits of plastic in the soups.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the products made by Massachusetts-based Blount Fine Foods were sold at Wegmans supermarkets in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
 
The following products, all under the Wegmans Food Markets label, are being recalled:
 
- 16 oz. cups of Chicken and Dumpling Soup with a "use by" date of August 24.
 
- 16 oz. cups of Gazpacho Soup with a "use by" date of September 2.
 
- 16 oz. cups of Italian Wedding Style Soup with Meatballs, Tomato Basil with Orzo, Caribbean Black Bean and Lobster Bisque, all with a "use by" date of September 3.
 
No injuries were reported. Wegmans says all products may be returned for a full refund.

Newark business owner helps others feel good about how they look

In high school, Brooke Heidenreich said she felt she never really had the confidence she needed — but once she got out into the real world, everything was different.

“I realized I could make people feel good even when they weren’t before,” she said.
That’s why, Heidenreich, a 2008 Sodus High School grad who earned an associates degree in liberal arts from Finger Lakes Community College in 2010, decided to open Heiden Seek Consignments at 506 S. Main St. in Newark.

Newark Club to travel to East Aurora

The Newark Top of the Hill Club is planning a day coach trip Tuesday, May 10 to East Aurora, NY.

This trip will include a guided tour of the Roycroft Arts and Crafts Museum where you will enjoy free time to explore the Roycroft Campus with its galleries, shops and Chapel before a guided tour of the Roycroft Inn and lunch. Then visit Vidler’s 5 & 10 store in East Aurora for browsing and shopping.

The tour bus leaves at 7:45 a.m. from the Newark Wegmans Plaza. It will return at approximately 6:30 p.m. The cost is $71 per person which includes your meal choice of either Panko Crusted Chicken, Poached Salmon or Filet of Sirloin.
